My business Smartwork Studio specializes in working with objects and personal vision. This was a perfect pairing of object and sponsor! Since Darwin's time a chimp has represented evolution and the sponsor was O'Doodles--a fine family business which has evolved through time in Chestnut Hill. I picked four decades to cover the existence of the business and painted each decade on each of the panels. I let the passage of time be represented by the cars parked out front of the building. It was fun research for me and an opportunity to explore the history of Chestnut Hill in a professional way. Finally since before Darwin's time a chimp has been a representation of playfulness and O'Doodles is a toy store. The chimp is engaging and his brain is working all the time! You can see it light up!
