Wallace Roberts & Todd held a firm wide competition in July 2006 to select a design for our newly adopted fiberglass animal, a walking Lion. The design and painting had to be completed before the end of August 2006; there were 14 total entries and 130 judges. My inspiration came from a series of photographs that I took when visiting a tropical rainforest in Jamaica, June 2006. The photographs captured the vitality of a thriving rainforest. I chose to use these photographs in my design as a collage that would cover the entire animal. It was an appropriate opportunity to both re-create and showcase a beautiful rainforest habitat while sending an important message to save our natural resources. The painting process was a collaborative team effort, a coming together of people and talents. WRT is thrilled with the finished product, it has definitely exceeded our expectations. The public's reaction and interaction with Rainforest, has been a spectacular experience to be a part of.
